East Coast 4 day Epic
4 Days/3 Nights (500km)
Spend three days cruising at high speed up Tasmania's scenic East Coast. This is the first four days of the longer 10 day Epic tour of Tasmania. If you don't have the time to do the whole lot, or think it might be a little beyond you at this stage, then this 4 day long weekend option may just be the best thing for you. Tour starts in Hobart and finishes in Launceston with three nights accommodation in Swansea, St Helens and Bridport along the way.
Next Departure Date:
10 February - 13 February 2007
| Day 1 Saturday 10 February 2007 |
Hobart/Swansea (142km) Head east to start the tour today and find your legs on the bike track out of town. Before lunch you'll hit "Black Charlies Opening", then "Bust-Me-Gall Hill" and "Break-Me-Neck Hill" in quick succession. A brilliant descent then a few ups and downs as you head towards the coastline. Enjoy views over the Freycinet Peninsula as you head into Swansea to spend the night beside the water.
|
| Day 2 Sunday 11 February 2007 |
Swansea/St Helens (150km) Cruise up the east coast today as the peleton makes its way to the east coast then heads north. Take a detour up the Elephant Pass then down the other side again. It's undulating smooth sailing all the way to St Helens for the night.
|
| Day 3 Monday 12 February 2007 |
St Helens/Bridport (110km) Leave the coast behind as you head inland for the rolling slopes of the north east. Pass hops farms, eucalypt plantations, small mining towns to the hub of the region at Scotsdale. This is a big day and the hills throughout the day are unrelenting, but keep your head up, once you've reached Scottsdale, head back to the coast and ride through to the coastal town of Bridport. Overnight in Bridport.
|
| Day 4 Tuesday 13 February 2007 |
Bridport/Launceston (110km) Keep the ocean to your right as you head along the coast to George Town, then down through the picturescue Tamar Valley and wine region to Launceston to finish the tour.
